Although the trades you pick should prove they manage in a way they will submit a reasonable estimate it does not have to be the lowest estimate if you feel that trade is BEST SUITED to deliver the best result. ...insurance company trade referrals and their results are, at best, challenged by “mixed loyalties” which are split between their marketing channel (the insurer sending them business, YOU) and the property owner (you again). It is important to understand standards for water, mold, and several other types of losses are VERY loosely written and hence; allow wide interpretation of what is good, even minimal service. The pressure on insurer referred trades by the insurer sending them to reduce the reimbursement to you is a business relationship driver. This relationship typically forces that trade to leverage these loose standards, cut corners, to remain in good standing with the insurer that sent them if they want to continue getting those referrals. What can you do to protect yourself from substandard results...!? |

...To protect yourself from (bad decisions &) a BAD RESULT, find someone who IS NOT beholding to the insurer. A team who will help plan BEFORE they put a levy on your budget; ideally a mitigation team that will work with the other trades (at least your GC selection and the AC Mechanical trade if AC is part of the challenge you face) to begin forming a comprehensive plan. How can I accomplish this...? |
